What is digital detox?
Digital detox is a conscious and temporary break from digital technologies and devices, aimed at restoring balance between the virtual and real worlds. During this practice, people refrain from using smartphones, computers, tablets, and other digital tools.
The break can vary – from a week of not using the phone and social media to simply putting your phone aside during dinner.
How does the digital detox work during the stay at MyRetreat cabin?
In our digital detox cabin, you will:
Upon arrival, put your smart devices in a special safe box.
Receive alternative activity suggestions: books, board games, walking routes.
Have time for authentic conversations, meditation, and nature observation.
Experience true “here and now” presence, free from constant message interruptions.
The digital detox experience in our cabin is not about completely rejecting technology, but about more mindful use and creating a healthier relationship with digital devices.
After your MyRetreat experience, consider implementing these practices at home:
Set time limits for social media and work apps.
Use “Do Not Disturb” mode or turn off notifications.
Keep your phone out of the bedroom and use a simple alarm clock instead.
How long should a digital detox last?
We have set a minimum 2-night stay for digital detox cabin reservations, and there are valid, science-based reasons for this:
- Adaptation period:Research shows that during the first 12-24 hours without digital devices, most people experience what is called “digital withdrawal syndrome” – anxiety, constant urge to check the phone, difficulty concentrating [1]. This period is necessary for the brain to begin adapting to the new environment.
- Reduction of stress hormones: A study by Hunt et al. (2018) found that a significant reduction in cortisol (stress hormone) levels is observed only after 24-48 hours without digital devices [2]. Therefore, one night is not enough to feel the true benefits of detox.
- Restoration of sleep cycle: Carter and colleagues (2020) found that at least two nights without the blue light emitted by screens are needed to normalize melatonin production and restore the natural sleep cycle [3].
- Experiencing real benefits: A study at the University of California showed that 80% of participants undergoing a digital detox began to feel real relaxation and positive changes only on the second day [4].
- Long-term effects: According to research from Stanford University, for the digital detox experience to have a long-term impact and help form new behavioral strategies, at least 36-48 hours of uninterrupted detox process is required [5].
A one-night stay typically provides only about 16-18 hours without devices (including sleep time), which is not enough for a full digital detox experience. By offering a minimum 2-night stay, we ensure that our guests truly experience the benefits of digital disconnection and can return to their daily lives with real insights and experiences.

About the cabin
What can I find in the cabin?
We provide everything you need to enjoy life without the internet. Our cabin features a phone box, a bookshelf with books, various boardgames, and an Instax camera to capture your most beautiful moments. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing delicious meals, bathroom includes a hot shower, soft towels, and all the necessary toiletries.
Is there electricity and hot water in the cabin?
Of course, our cabin is designed for your complete comfort.
Where is cabin located?
Our cozy cabin is located in the heart of nature, just an hour’s drive from Vilnius or Kaunas, near Aukštadvaris. The exact location will be provided to you once your booking is confirmed.
Phone lockbox
Do I really need to lock my phone in a box?
As a part of your digital detox experience, we offer you a box to safely store your smartphone throughout your stay. Additionally, for urgent matters, we provide an old-fashioned phone.
It is not mandatory but we sincerely encourage you to spend your entire stay without distractions, avoiding intrusive emails and endless social media notifications.
Your mind and body will truly thank you.
What if I need to contact someone urgently?
Our cabin has an old-fashioned phone. It allows you to easily reach us or nearby establishments if needed. Additionally, before you leave, you can share the number (we will send it to you) with friends and family so they can contact you throughout your detox experience.
Arrival and departure
How do I find the cabin and where I should park my car?
After placing your reservation, you will receive a detailed guide with all the necessary instructions on how to find us. This guide will include the exact address, directions, and information on where to conveniently park your car. Rest assured, we will assist you every step of the way!
How can I prepare for the stay?
Our cabin has everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay, including all cooking essentials, towels and bathroom essentials. In addition, bring food, raincoat, protection from the insects and comfortable walking shoes.
When can I check in?
You can check in to the cabin from 3:00 PM
When do I have to check out?
Check-out must be completed by 11:00 AM.
Pets and children
Is the cabin pet-friendly?
The cabin is dog-friendly. Your four legged friends are accepted free of charge, however, only well-behaved dogs are welcomed. Unfortunately, other pets are not allowed.
Can children come with me?
The retreat cabin is designed for adults over 18 years old, but children are also welcome. Guests must ensure the comfort of their children and bring necessary items for their convenience (additional bedding, mattress, etc).
Cancellation and date changes
Can I cancel my stay?
If you cancel more than 14 days before arrival, you can get a full refund, change the date of your stay or get a coupon.
If the cancellation is made 7–14 calendar days before arrival, the guest will receive a 50% refund of the amount paid.
If the cancellation is made less than 7 calendar days before arrival, a 100% cancellation fee applies – the amount paid is non-refundable, regardless of the circumstances (illness, changes in travel plans, etc.).
If you booked your stay less than 14 days before arrival, you will have a 48-hour adjustment period: during this time, you can change your stay dates free of charge or get a full refund.

Can I change my stay dates?
Yes, reservation changes are possible, but only once. If the total amount of the new reservation is lower, the difference is not refunded, and if the new reservation is higher, you must pay the difference.
